A few words on who I am

About me, by me

I am an animation-loving designer, product person, and listen-to-music-on-repeater. While I have a strong belief in design systems and an endless desire for visual polish, I do my best work using design thinking to move products from uncertainty and assumptions to clarity and solutions.

I was born and raised in in easygoing California, but thrive in fast-paced environments where we can prioritize being able to ask the right questions over always knowing the right answer.

When my laptop is closed, I am either somewhere with good food, or somewhere with a good view and my camera (but most likely also with food nearby).  I dabble in photography and will happily geek out with you about anything. I've shot on Pentax, Nikon, Canon, and Sony... so I won't be offended which you prefer.

What am I up to now?

I'm currently tackling enterprise SaaS problems in the philanthropic sector at Fluxx. Grant funders and their respective recipients enable some of the most important work on the planet, which is why I couldn't deny the the chance to work on empowering them to amplify the good they can do in the world.

In addition to leading the strategy and executing all design company-wide, I also regularly ship production HTML, SCSS, and Javascript (Vanilla and ReactJS) to both Grantseeker and GrantmakerI work with the other developers on the team to establish best practices for a maintainable front-end.  Sometimes miscellaneous marketing projects will find their way onto my desk. Sometimes...

B.A. Design from the University of California, Davis

My formal education in traditional visual/graphic design from UC Davis set me up with a world-class foundation in universal design principles such as typography, hierarchy, and color theory.

Although I am always learning through a variety of mediums, having a mastery of visual design allows me to focus on the UX strategy and product challenges while effortlessly elevating the level of polish in products I am involved with.
