Quick Guide to Photoshop Resources
Posted on Aug 07, 2009 in Resources
So lots of people are wondering what they need to be successful at photoshop and any sort of graphic art. What it boils down to, is time. If you have the time and dedication to spend, anything’s possible. But here are some tools that will make your life easier.
Brush Packs
Yes, they are amateurish at times, and yes, they can be annoying, but if you find a good pack, they CAN come in handy. Especially for learners. And for brush packs, there’s simply no better place than Deviant Art. A quick search will answer all your brush needs. http://www.deviantart.com
Tutorials
They are there to help you! What’s important about tutorials is utilizing the techniques, NOT copying them step for step. If you use a tutorial, find out how something is done specifically, don’t just turn into a zombie and mimic the outcome. Good places for techniques are
- DeviantArt (again) – http://www.deviantart.com
- Graphic Tutorials – http://www.graphictutorials.net
- PSDTuts – http://www.psdtuts.com
- Pixel2Life – http://www.pixel2life.com
Stocks
There are lots of places where you can get stocks, but if you don’t want to be shelling out for a small little learning pet project, check around here.
- Stock.xchng – www.sxc.hu
- Public Domain Photos – http://www.public-domain-photos.com/
- And yet again, DeviantArt. Some of these have special rules, so be sure to get permission first. – http://www.deviantart.com
I would put more bundles of links, but the fact of the matter is, all you really need is a little time and creativity. The less pre-compiled and created resources and brushes you can use, the better. More originality is always good.
Enjoy!
